What We Know
At General Motors we are driven by trusted research from safety leaders and government organizations to help us understand the driving challenges we face every day.
We know that 1.3M people die each year in traffic crashes, globally 1. That is why General Motors is working to bring attention to this important issue of safe driving. We work to design safe vehicles and collaborate with industry leaders to help influence positive driving behaviors.
Teen Driving Safety
Having a child in the car can change how you see the road ahead. We know that motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for 5–29-year-olds 1. General Motors looks at safety holistically, to help keep both parents and children safe and focused on the road.
Distracted Driving
At General Motors we know that Distracted Driving is not safe driving. Even a two second off road glace can double your risk of a crash or a close call. 2
That’s why we enable in-vehicle and phone connectivity so that drivers do not have to handle their phones while driving.

Seat Belt Use
At General Motors we know that seat belt use is imperative. Wearing seat belts reduces the risk of death in a crash by 45-60% 1.
That’s why we work to spread the word on the importance of seat belt use and incorporate reminder systems in our vehicles.
